IMG_1886.jpeg

South County School of Performing Arts is excited to welcome Kelly Robertson as the new Artistic Director for our theatre program! Kelly will be leading our theatre productions as well as helping to grow our program throughout the area. With over a decade of experience as a professional actress, a theater producer, and an educator to folks of all ages and abilities around New England, Kelly strives to bring more joy, confidence, and technique to young South County stars. Kelly has 20 years of dance instruction and holds a BA in Theater from Dean College, trained at NYC’s Atlantic Acting School, and holds a certificate from CADA in Applied Drama for Autism. Kelly was the founding Theater Program Director at The Croft School, where she uplifted students in creating memorable performances - both large musicals, and student written works. Kelly directed theater camps at The Gamm Theater and worked for years as the performance teacher at Generations Adult Day Health Center and as Studio Playground’s Artistic Associate where she fostered community connections through clown education. Other teaching credits include: Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, Boys and Girls Club, Boston Children Museum, and Camp RYSE. Kelly also has years of teaching in elementary and middle school classroom settings at The Croft School. Kelly’s philosophy is based in physical theatrical clown and the idea that actors are brave gifts that make the world a better place with their generosity!

Exciting News for SCSPA Theatre!

Big news from South County School of Performing Arts! We're thrilled to announce a new collaboration with the Community College of Rhode Island for our upcoming production of Alice in Wonderland Jr.  Our rehearsals and performances will take place at CCRI's wonderful facilities- with rehearsals at the CCRI Warwick campus and the performances at the CCRI Providence campus. This is a milestone for us. Partnering with CCRI gives our students the kind of space their talent deserves. And it's just the beginning: we're building collaborations with partners across Rhode Island to create more theatre, more opportunity, and more moments in the spotlight for the young artists in our community.

Using facilities at CCRI and other venues will provide professional rehearsal and performance spaces at easily accessible locations for our students and families. Our Alice in Wonderland Jr Homeschool Production will begin as scheduled with auditions and the first rehearsal on September 18 at the CCRI Warwick campus (just minutes from Bridal Ave and I-95). We will also have exciting details to share on registration and auditions for our upcoming production of Elf Jr very soon. Our high school production will be on hold until the spring as we grow these new theatre collaborations.
